It is just too cute to see these little ones starting
to play with each other. Sometimes they forge
ahead with an "attack in mind" on one of the
other siblings, with full intentions to
roughhouse. They soon realize though that they
are still very weak and the escapade ends
quickly. Mostly though, at this age, these
encounters are just by happenstance because they
accidently bumped into the other puppy. They
usually both comically wind up falling over each
other.
These 3 weekers will be starting to eat solid
food this week. I know they will fully enjoy that
new experience. Brazin will too. This will not
only give her a break from full time nursing, but
I noticed that she has seen how Butterscotch
gets to eat all the leftovers from her babies. I
know that Brazin just can't wait till she gets to
tackle this tasty chore.
At this age, not only do the pups have sharp
teeth but their toenails grow long rapidly.
Before the puppies go home their nails will have
been trimmed several times.

| Brazin's puppies are growing so big that they no longer will safely fit in the large laundry basket which I used for their incubator and holding-bin while I cleaned out their pen. So I found a qreat substitute; an oversized box which was ready for recycling. They fit nicely, although at first they were not too happy with their new location and tried to climb out. They eventually realized it was fruitless and settled for a nap instead. Brazin, spotting her displaced brood, decided to hang out on the soiled blankets till her pups were returned to the freshly cleaned whelping box. |
