| Although Reilly was in a hurry to start delivering her pups, (4 days before DD), after Pistachio, her first was born, she did not whelp her next pup till an hour and a half later. That delay was fortunate for me though, as it gave my assistant Pat, time to wake up and drive over here in the middle of the night. Shortly after Pat arrived, 2 more pups would wait no longer to start their new exciting life. Both Cherry and Rocky Road were born - just 20 seconds apart. Reilly whelped all her pups in only 3 1/2 hours. It was really just beginning for her though, as she immediately began to feed and care for her offspring, with loving tenderness. |
| The puppies' eyes will remain closed and they also will not be able to hear for 2 to 3 weeks. By that time their pink noses will have turned black, and they will fill out to start to look and act more like a golden puppy, and not just a cute cuddly ball of fur. |
