6 weeks already with just 1 more left before they leave here to go into their new
homes to meet their new moms, dads, and all the other family members - human
and animals who will give this puppy so much love and play.
At this age, they are very noisy at times, especially when they want to be picked
up. Frequently, there are 1 or 2 who are not happy campers until they have
convinced someone that being in their arms is the best place to be. It's quite
frequently me. Oh, I know, how I suffer.
Their play time does get very rough sometimes and I have to break it up before
someone gets hurt. They just don't realize how sharp those baby teeth really are.
They also are in the nipping stage and when you are not watching you will get an
abrupt surprise to find they have found a new toy. Ouch! Did I say toy, oh, I
meant toe.
This last week here with me is a very busy time for them. First, they get to have
fun playing with someone new while they have their PAT test.
The next day they get have another fun event when I take them to visit with the
vet to make sure they are all healthy to go into their new homes. If you ever
want to get help fast from office staff just bring in a litter of puppies and
everyone so quickly is at your disposal helping to hold a puppy waiting to be
examined. Of course, the pups aren't too keen on the ride in the crate to and
from the Dr's office but that just goes with the territory...
Finally, right before going to their new homes the pups get a much needed
bath. I shampoo them while my husband tackles the blow drying detail. Some
of the pups absolutely love this water experience (they know they're retrievers
already), while some others act as if it is the worst thing they have ever
experienced. Well, maybe it is, as their life so far has been p r e t t y d a r n
good, as I know, it will continue to be for a l o n g, l o n g time.

Having just returned from the vet with over a 2 hour ride in the car,
the pups are ready for their bath. This long trip in addition to the
bathing, the blow drying, the nail clipping, and taking their pup
meds, leaves no wonder why they fell right asleep when they were
put in the bin covered with towels to finish drying.
Update: January 12, 2012
All of Kali's puppies are now placed in their permanent homes
enjoying their new families and getting spoiled (well, hopefully not too
much). Go to the Upcoming litter link to see my next planned
breeding.
