At five weeks old, the puppies are getting more active every day. Although
most of their time is still spent sleeping, they do have longer play periods now.
They spend their waking hours playing with each other, or their numerous
toys.
They have been eating mostly total puppy food now with the morsals just
softened a bit with water. They are taking to this changeover from mushy food
quite nicely and are all good eaters. The puppies are still getting used to
drinking water, and will still try to grab a quick drink from Kali when she will
let them.
On Christmas eve my husband and I came home from Mass to find 3 of the
pups had ventured out of the box. 2 were quickly found roaming just a few
feet away, while I had to search a bit before I found the other little curious
adventurer. She was located in the other room, huddled next to the couch
laying totally still. No, she wasn't budging and looked as it she was saying
"Mommy Mommy, where are you"? After a few moment of caressing and
cuddling I returned her to the whelping box and she was quickly back to her
normal playful self again. I think she learned her lesson, but the barracades
were raised just to be sure none of them go on another mystery tour of my
house.
